Easy Hanging Dish Towel Knitting Pattern Mura Towel
The Mura is an easy knit dish towel with hanging loop. This free knitting pattern is simple to knit and easy to hang.
Plenty of hand towels is a kitchen essential. Even though I have enough, so many end up on the floor. Hanging kitchen towels that stay in place are my favorite.
The Mura Towel threads on to the bar of your oven door to keep it in place. This means no more towels hitting the floor after the kids use them!

I find adding the loop to the towel easier than making a towel topper separately too. And if you prefer regular dish towels to a hanging towel, you can just bind off instead of adding the loop.
Who loves patterns knit with an easy repeat? I do! Now this towel has an 8 row repeat, which may sound long. But all the right side rows are knit, so it’s easier to remember than 8 separate rows.
Another thing I love about this easy towel pattern is that it’s mostly knit stitches! And it’s textured, which I enjoy. There is only one row of all purls, the rest are knits, with a purl here and there.

Adjust as needed.
The second way to hang the towel is with a trifold.

Hello. I just stumbled upon this pattern for hanging dishtowel and I must say I’m impressed. I too get frustrated when I see the dishtowel on the floor instead of on the oven door handle. I like the towel handle you designed; it’s just an extension of the towel but what a time-saving idea! (how many times a day do we have to pick up the towel?)
Your written instructions are clear and photos are helpful. Thank you for sharing this pattern. I shall start one soon, just have to choose colour, and I think that this is a good item to make for my best friend’s Christmas stocking. (or maybe two)
Thank you Tricia, I’m glad you like it! And what a kind gift for your friend. I hope you enjoy the pattern!
I love this pattern but want in about 4” longer. How would I do that
Hi Tamara,
I’m glad you like it. To lengthen it you just continue the repeat rows for the extra 4″ before you add the hanging hole. I hope this helps!
