In the picture here are the teen/small adult size gloves. The fingerless gloves pattern includes sizing for toddler, child, teen/sm adult and medium/large adult. So you have plenty of sizes to choose from!

This pattern does use a special stitch, the twin cluster so it’s classified as an intermediate level pattern. However, I include a photo tutorial with the written pattern below. Plus there’s a full video tutorial on my YouTube channel as well.

Materials

  • 50 yd/45m-125 yd/114m, divided of Red Heart with Love, a #4 med weight yarn (100% acrylic, 198 g/7 oz, 338 meters/370 yards) colors: 1 ball each of peacock (color a) and stone (color b).
  • 5.5mm US size I-9 hook,* or hook needed to meet gauge.
  • yarn needle, measuring tape, scissors

Yarn By Size

Divide in two colors.

Toddler – 50 yd / 45 m

Child -75 yd / 69 m

Teen/Sm Adult – 90 yd / 82 m

Med/Lg Adult -100 yd / 91 m

Lg/XL Adult – 125 yd / 114 m

Notes

  1. Please read through all notes and pattern before you begin.
  2. For this pattern, the gauge is the ribbing so you can start your ribbing and measure once it’s long enough. Be sure not to stretch the ribbing.
  3. Ch 2 does not count as a stitch.
  4. Stitch multiple is 3.

Special Stitch

Tc-Twin Cluster Stitch-are worked over three stitches-you start in one, skip the middle st and end in the third st: *{yo, insert hook in st, yo and pull up a loop (3 loops on hook), yo and pull through 2 loops} in the same st rep from * 2 more times (4 loops on hook), sk the next st, rep from * 3x total in the same st (7 loops on your hook), yo and pull through all loops on your hook.

2”/5cm x 2”/5cm =  7 blo sc x  8 rows of blo sc (ribbing)

2”/5cm = 2 twin cluster stitches or 6 sts of (sc, dc, dc)

Fit/Adjustments

Check hand circumference by measuring around the knuckles. Choose the size that corresponds to a little larger than your measurement. For instance if your hand circumference measures 7.25” then you would choose Teen/Sm Adult.

If you have trouble meeting gauge, or your gloves are working up smaller/larger, go up/down a size in the pattern or try going up/down a hook size.

To lengthen your gloves add more rows, the pattern will tell you where to do this.

Instructions

    Toddler (Child, Teen/Sm Adult, Med/Lg adult, Lg/XL Adult)
    Make 2

    Ribbing
    In Color A
    Ch 7 (7, 9, 9, 11) leave a long tail for sewing together.

    1. Row 1. Sc in the 2nd ch from the hook and in each ch across, turn. (6, 6, 8, 8, 10 sts) 
    2. Row 2. Ch 1, sc in the same, sc in the blo of each st until 1 st left, sc in the last st, turn.
    3. Rep last row for 16 (20, 24, 28, 32) rows or until you’ve reached 4”/10cm (5”/12.7 cm, 6”/15.2cm, 7”/17.8cm, 8”/20.3cm) long.
    4. Fold in half and sl st short ends together.
    5. Turn and work around the circle.

Gloves

  1. Rnd 1. Ch 1, sc 18 (21, 24, 27, 30) evenly around, join with sl st to first st. (18, 21, 24, 27, 30 sts)
  2. Rnd 2. Ch 2, Begin Tc in same st, sk next st, finish Tc in next st, ch 2, *{begin Tc in the next st, sk next st, finish Tc in next st, ch 2} rep from * around, sl st to top of first Tc. Work twin cluster stitches around ribbing. You can cut yarn here or carry it up like I did here in the Tuscan Charm Cowl.First round of twin cluster stitches on fingerless gloves crochet pattern.
  3. Rnd 3. Join Color B to first Tc. Ch 4 (5, 6, 8, 9) sk 4 sts, this creates the thumbhole,
    Toddler/Child sc in next st; Adult sizes do not sc, just sk this st.
    All sizes place 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, Chain to create thumbhole for fingerless gloves.
  4. *{sc in top of next Tc, 2 dc in next ch 2 sp} rep from * around, sl st to first ch.Continue with double crochet and single crochet after thumbhole.
  5. Rnd 4. Join Color A to thumbhole ch sp. Ch 2, Begin TC and finish Tc in thumbhole ch sp, ch 2, Start twin cluster in contrast color in thumbhole.All sizes begin with one twin cluster in thumbhole.
  6. Toddler/Child sizes start the next Tc in next sc as in the picture:Toddler-child will begin next tc in sc, sk 1 dc + end tc in 2nd dc.
  7. Adult sizes start next Tc in same thumbhole ch sp as first Tc, as in picture: Adult sizes start next twin cluster in same thumbhole ch sp as first twin cluster.adult sizes will begin next tc in same thumbhole ch sp, sk 1 dc + end it in 2nd dc.
  8. All sizes: sk next dc, finish Tc in next dc, ch 2, *{begin Tc in the next st, sk next st, finish Tc in next st, ch 2} rep from * around, sl st last ch 2 to first Tc.
  9. Rnd 5. Join Color A to top of first Tc. Ch 1, sc in same st, 2 dc in next ch 2 sp, *{sk 1, sc in top of Tc, 2 dc in ch 2 sp} rep * around, sl st to first sc.
  10. Rnd 6. Join Color B. Ch 2, Begin Tc in same st, sk next st, finish Tc in next st, ch 2, *{begin Tc in the next st, sk next st, finish Tc in next st, ch 2} rep from * around, sl st to top of first Tc.
  11. Toddler size go to Last Rnd.
    Child: Rep Rnds 5-6 again = 8 rnds. Go to Last Rnd.
    Teen/Sm Adult: Rep Rnds 5-6 again = 8 rnds. Go to Last Rnd.
    Med/Lg/XL Adult: Rep Rnds 5-6 two more times total = 10 rnds. Go to Last Rnd.

    If you wish to lengthen your gloves add another rep of Rows 5-6.
  12. Last Rnd. Ch 1, sc in same st and in each st around, join with sl st to first st. FO.
  13. Finishing
    Cut yarn. Weave in ends.
