Bettie Bear Crochet Granny Square Lovey Pattern

Sharing is caring!

Bettie the Bear crochet lovey is a sweet gift for a little one. The simple granny square blanket is just made for snuggling.

The crochet bear is an easy amigurumi pattern. I include specific instructions for assembly and embroidering the face {it’s easy}.

I chose a cotton blend for this pattern so it wouldn’t have as many fibers shed.

The cotton blend yarn features gorgeous stitch definition. And colors, as always, are customizable.

Yarn

For this lovey and bear I use Bernat Softee Baby Cotton. It’s a #3 lightweight yarn.

I really love working with this one. The Eileen Blanket also features this yarn in the same colors.

You can substitute any comparable yarn, likely even a #4 medium yarn. It’s always best to check gauge for the best results.

Stitches

Bettie the Bear’s head uses simple single crochets. There are decreases for closing up the ball.

I share links for all the stitch tutorials below, if you need them.

Bettie’s blanket is a granny square blanket. So the “grannies” are made with double crochets.

Bettie is for a little girl so the border (and colors) are more feminine. However, a solid border or simple granny works for boys too.
