The Library Tote-a free crochet pattern

The Library Tote is a book lover’s best friend. This rectangle bag is composed of a sturdy single crochet bottom with two wide handles for comfort. Bring it to the farmer’s market, the library or the yarn store.

When we hit the library we never seem to have enough hands or bags for all the books. I love this bag for these trips. It’s yarn so it stretches, but it’s more supportive than a mesh bag. If you’re looking for mesh bags you might enjoy these:

  1. The June Market Tote
  2. La Via Bag

I’ve been crocheting up these bags to gift to all the amazing teachers who have supported my kids this year. I knew a teacher would have tons of notebooks and papers to fill it with.

As much as I’d love to gift a handmade blanket to each and everyone of them, who has the time? Do you gift your crocheted item to teachers? Last year I made them summery cotton cowls/scarves-all one skein projects! These were so fun and easy!

  1. Skinny Summer Scarf
  2. Incrocio Cowl
  3. Fiore Cowl
  4. Archwork Cowl
  5. Colorblock Cowl

Materials

Notes

  1. Ch 3 counts as a stitch, I highly recommend using a ch 3 alternative, like one of these.
  2. The bag is worked in continuous rounds-do not join, just continue to work around. Mark the first st of each round.
  3. Mark your increase stitches for the bottom.
