The Yarn
The Lia Cowl features Furls Whims Merino yarn. I love how the stitches pop in this z-twist crocheter yarn. And this purple color is luscious.
With only one skein of Whims Merino you can crochet the Lia Cowl. And with so many gorgeous colors, choosing one may be the hardest part.
Thank you Furls for providing the yarn support for this pattern. I love that Whims Merino is specifically designed for crocheters. The stitch definition speaks for itself.
I just love being able to throw on my handmade cowl and go (even if it’s just for a walk these days). It’s simple and stunning. Such an easy way to jazz up a regular outfit.
I always crochet gifts for my kids’ teachers for end of year. Which usually means something that is warm weather friendly. The Lia Cowl would make an amazing teacher gift or Mother’s Day gift.
Not that I’m planning to part with mine 😉 But hey my kids have been distance learning at home so maybe this can be my gift to me.

Construction
The Lia Cowl is worked in the round. Which means at the end of each round you’ll use a slip stitch to join to the first stitch of the round. Then you’ll continue to the next round, crocheting around and joining at the end.
Fit/Adjustment
To increase or decrease the length of your cowl, start with a chain count that is a multiple of 5=5, 10, 15, 20… 100, 105, 110 etc. As written, 110 chains gives you a cowl of 20” around.
To make a narrower or wider cowl, just subtract or add more rounds. I would recommend stopping after a Rnd 7 rep. As written cowl measures 13” tall.
