Free Crochet Leaf Pattern
Crochet a leaf with this free pattern. A simple crochet leaf that can be used to add on to crochet hats, scarves, blankets and more.
This crochet leaf has a longer stem, for dangling off a hat. The stem, and the leaf are easy to adjust by adding more or less chains to start with.

For this leaf there is minimal shaping. You will crochet on both sides of the starting chain.
I include a photo tutorial in the pattern below to help you.
I worked up a pumpkin stem, this leaf pattern and a vine, made from a single crochet curlicue to use with my crochet pumpkin hat pattern.
Keeping the pieces small was important to me. So it adds a touch of cuteness, without getting in the way!

Materials
- 10yd/9m #4 medium worsted weight yarn in green. I use Red Heart Super Saver in spring green.
- 5mm US Size H-8 crochet hook, hook compatible to your yarn.
- yarn needle
- scissors
- measuring tape
Notes
- This crochet leaf and stem are worked all as one piece.
- After the first row you’ll work on both sides of the stitches for the leaf part only.
Gauge
1″/2.5cm = 4 sc
Finished Dimensions
3.25″/8.3cm long x 1.75″/4.5cm wide

How to Crochet a Leaf
Learn how to crochet a leaf in this easy crochet leaf pattern. These simple crochet leaves make great additions to your pumpkin hats, or spring blankets!
Materials
- 10yd/9m #4 medium worsted weight yarn in green.
Tools
- 5mm US Size H-8 crochet hook, hook compatible to your yarn.
Instructions
- Chain 11-the first 6 will be the stem and leaf is worked over the last 4 sts, so add more here for a longer leaf or stem.
- SC in the 2nd ch and in each ch across,
- On the last ch add 2 more sc (3 total in this st),
- Continue around on to the other side of the chain and place 1 sc in each of next 3 sc (you're working into the opposite side, so there will be sts in both sides as you work), turn.
- Place 1 dc in each of next 3 sc,
- Place 2 dc in each of next 3 sc. (again you're working around the end back on to the other side),
- Place 1 dc in each of next 3 sc.
- Cut yarn, leave a long tail for sewing.
- Sew on to a hat, scarf, blanket or other crochet project.
- Repeat for the number of leaves you need, or in various colors.
