Chunky Scarf Crochet Pattern Free | Nebbia Scarf
The Nebbia is a chunky scarf crochet pattern that is so soft and cozy! Simple stitches and chunky yarn create this lovely draping scarf.
This chunky crochet scarf is long enough to double wrap. Or if you prefer to, style it as a cowl by seaming the ends.
The chunky yarn I chose has a brushed halo look and it is truly dreamy, as implied by the name.

I knew this was a great yarn when I designed the Nebbia Sweater! So I set out to create this easy crochet scarf pattern with basic crochet stitches.
The subtle texture of the double crochet stitch creates the squishiest chunky crochet scarf.
I love layering scarves for mornings and evenings. So many of them are chilly through the entire year. A stylish scarf is a beautiful and simple way to combat the cold.
The Nebbia Scarf is worked on the short end so it’s easy to customize the length. You can even seam the ends for an infinity cowl.
If you want to crochet a narrower (or wider) scarf just adjust the starting stitch in twos.
The Yarn
Red Heart Dreamy* is one of my favorite yarns. It is so incredibly soft. This is a gorgeous brushed yarn. It gives the chunky crochet scarf a fuzzy, ethereal look.
I love the pairing of the looser front loop and back loop stitches with this yarn. In planning the Nebbia design, I found that tighter stitches didn’t allow the yarn to shine.
Using a larger hook, plus crocheting under only one loop really let this yarn speak. Plus the #5 yarn makes this free scarf pattern a quick project.

Adjustments
To crochet a scarf that is narrower or wider, start with an even number of stitches.
Continue the repeat row for a longer scarf. To shorten your scarf crochet adjust the number of rows you make. For most adult scarves, at least a minimum of 60″ is a decent length.
To make this scarf into an infinity cowl join sew the two ends together when you are finished.
