Elegant Holiday Scarf Crochet Pattern For Winter
The Rossi Crochet Scarf is an elegant single crochet scarf. The tonal red circles are enough to give this scarf a holiday feel without going over the top.
This easy crochet pattern works beautifully as a unique gift for both men and women’s winter wardrobe. This handmade crochet scarf can be worn for the holiday season from December through February, plus the rest of the chilly months too.
I am in love with this simple crochet scarf. It’s just the perfect accessory with a pop of color and interest in those dots. It’s a great pattern to learn color changing techniques too.

I love how customizable crochet scarves are. You can easily choose your favorite colors. And what a great way to stash bust that excess yarn with the Rossi Scarf.
I had a very specific idea of the colors I wanted to use for this cozy scarf. I went with Caron Simply Soft because they have all the different colors to make the perfect project.
The three reds bring the holiday spirit and make it a stylish accessory. Also, I knew Caron Simply Soft yarn would give this easy crochet scarf pattern gorgeous drape.

I choose the name Rossi for this scarf since it means “reds” in Italian. Long time readers of my blog will have noticed that I often use Italian words for my crochet projects.
Plus there’s a graph for the Rossi Scarf
Tasha of Stardust Gold Crochet made a tutorial on How to Read a Graph with video! I knew she was the person to ask, because of her stunning Fair Isle Snowflakes & Hearts Slouchy Beanie pattern!
Materials
- 400 yds #4 med worsted weight yarn total pictured in Caron Simply Soft* (100% acrylic, 315 yd (288 m) per 170 g skein) in shades: 350 yds in Heathers Grey (main color – mc), 50 yds each: Harvest Red (CC1), Burgundy (CC2) and Autumn Red (CC3) (CC – contrasting colors).
- 5 mm US size H–8 hook,* or size needed to meet gauge.
- Yarn needle, measuring tape, scissors.
Notes
- Begin each row with a ch 1, which does not count as a st, your first sc goes in the same st.
- There are 8 rows of MC in between each dot and to start and finish the scarf.
- There are two dot positions either starting in the 8th st or the 16th st, and three dot colors: CC1, CC2, CC3.
- Finished scarf measures 8” x 60.”
Level
Easy
The basic crochet stitches make this pattern suitable for all skill levels from beginner crocheters to experienced makers.
Color Work
Watch the video tutorial on how to make these color changes.
- To change colors work to last st in your current color, begin your stitch normally, but stop before the last yarn over, drop the yarn, pulling it toward you. Pick up the new color, yarn over and pull your new color through the two loops on your hook, completing your sc. Now you’re ready with the new color your next st.
- I did not cut my MC yarn, I worked over it, laying it on top of the previous row’s stitches and working into them and over the yarn in the CC. When it’s time, I do the color change, drop the current color and I can pick up the MC because it’s right there.
- I let the CC hang where I drop it and am able to pick it back up when I come back to it. I did have to pull it across a st, as I needed to start my color change earlier when my circles grow. But I kept it loose and was sure not to miss the stitch I pulled it across.
- The colors tangle a little but since the circles are relatively small it’s not too bad and you just cut the CC when your circle is complete.

I really like this scarf, I’ve never worked from a graph before. For some reason I can’t “like” any of your patterns, they all say loading.
