Easy Narwhal Crochet Pattern

Crochet this cute little narwhal for someone you love. The free crochet pattern is an easy and quick amigurumi pattern.

This crochet narwhal works up in one main body piece. The fins are crocheted separately and sewn into place. This is an easy crochet pattern.

There are a few options you can do for the face of your own little narwhal. Below, I use safety eyes with textured eyebrows.

I give a few suggestions and a winky eye face narwhal too.

Some of our favorites, are the Narwhal and Jelly books by Ben Clanton. They’re pretty cute and encourage the kids to create their own stories and comics.

While we have plenty of books, we are short on stuffed narwhals. Lucky for my son his mom crochets.

This free amigurumi pattern is the perfect size to fit in your hand. His finished length (including his tusk) is 9″ long. This is a fun size for him to keep with him.

What if you don’t have safety eyes?

It’s easy to embroider on a face with black thread or yarn. Below I use thread to sew on little Vs to make this winky eye.

You can also crochet small black circles. Just place 6 single crochet in a magic circle (or chain 3 and slip stitch to the first to form a circle).

The sleepy eye with closed eye lashes like this crochet bear lovey pattern would look cute too.

I was going for a boy friendly look, but the eyelashes on Katerina Kitty Lovey crochet pattern turned out so good and would be super sweet here too.

An easy narwhal amigurumi pattern

This narwhal crochets up quickly in just 5 pieces. The body includes one color change for the tusk.

Then the 4 fins are the same. Easy peasy. And it’s crocheted with regular worsted weight yarn so it may be a great stash buster for you!

This little cutie is a speedy project that’s uses a little bit of yarn. It’s perfect for a summer birthday gift!

The body and fins are crocheted in the round, continuously. This means there’s no joining, you just keep crocheting around and around.

It is important to mark your first stitch. You can use a little yarn, locking stitch marker, or bobby pin.

I found on this one the bobby pin works really well for amigurumi. It’s long enough to stay in place, and super easy to slide off and on for every round.

Materials

• Red Heart Super Saver a #4 medium weight yarn (100% Acrylic, 7 oz. / 198 g, 364 yd. / 333 m) main color: turquoise (1) + horn color: aran (1).
• Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread Fashion 3 size black
• 2 each 12 mm safety eyes, if using.
• Polyfill for stuffing
• 3.25 mm hook size (US size D-3), since exact gauge is not important, you can use the smallest hook that is comfortable for you.
• stitch markers
• yarn needle
• measuring tape
• scissors

Notes

1. Please read through all notes and pattern before you begin.
2. Gauge information is provided, but it’s not terribly important. You want small, tight stitches so use the smallest hook that you can comfortably crochet a #4 med yarn with. Your narwhal my be slightly larger or smaller, which is fine.
3. Pattern is worked in continuous rounds, do not join. Mark the first stitch and continue in the same direction.
