Easy Halloween Moon Cup Cozy Free Crochet Pattern
Create a Halloween themed cup cozy with this free crochet pattern. The full moon and flying bats are easy to make with color changes.
The basic cozy pattern is a simple one row repeat in a textured stitch pattern. I chose to use acrylic yarn but you could use cotton yarn if you prefer.

The colors are easy to customize if you like a white moon as I do in the video tutorial.
It’s worked flat and seamed. So you could add a button and chain loop to use on a mug if you want.

Materials
- 32 yds of #4 medium worsted weight yarn divided as: 2 yd black (B), 15 yd yellow (Y), 15 yd purple (P).
- 5 mm crochet hook (US Size H-8) or hook needed to meet gauge
- Yarn needle, scissors, measuring tape
Notes
- Please read through all notes and pattern before you begin.
- Work up a gauge swatch using the provided gauge information. If your gauge matches great, continue on. If not, change your hook size and swatch again. If your stitches are smaller, go up a hook size, if they’re larger, go down a hook size.
- Ch 1 at the beginning of the row counts as the first single crochet. Stitch counts will include this stitch.
- Stitch multiple is an odd number plus 2.
- Color changing tip: before the last movement of last stitch before the color change, drop the first color and pick up the second color, finish the stitch in the new color.
- For color changes you can cut yarn and join with a slip stitch or carry the yarn. Since my colors are contrasting, I chose to cut the yarn and rejoin.
- After the first row, the entire cozy is a repeat of row 2. To indicated color changes the number of stitches is written followed by the letter abbreviation for the color to work them in. Remember the beginning chain 1 does count as a stitch.
