For this scarf we’re using basic crochet stitches and a simple repeat. You won’t need several skeins of yarn for this one skein wonder either!
To keep this scarf pattern warm, but without creating a dense fabric I combine shells with chains. This creates rows with open work, but still plenty of stitch coverage to keep you warm!

Since this lovely scarf is a one skein crochet pattern the width is just under 5″ wide. If you’re working with plenty of yarn you can make it as wide as you like. I share how to do that under “Adjustments” below.
And the same goes for length. I kept this scarf to one skein and got it to 60″ long, which is about as short as I recommend for an adult scarf.
The easy way to make this cozy scarf longer is to simply just add more yarn (and keep repeating)! No matter your crochet skills, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced crocheter you will enjoy this scarf pattern.
If you like this yarn and color, I also use it in the Camilia Poncho crochet pattern!
I love a one skein crochet project. Crochet scarf patterns are a great way to use up those random single balls of yarn.
It’s even better when our crochet scarves work up quickly! The double crochet stitch really helps this one move along.
How long does it take to crochet a scarf?
Of course the answer is, it depends. However, a narrow scarf like this one that uses just one skein of yarn is going work up faster since it doesn’t take much yarn or much time.
It might take some crocheters about 2 hours to crochet a narrow 4-5″ scarf that’s 60″ long, like this one. That’s if you’re working in worsted weight yarn.
If you’re working in bulky yarn, or crocheting an infinity scarf then it’s going to effect how long it takes you. For a wider or longer scarf, you’re going to need more yarn.
Chunky yarn and super bulky scarves will work up much faster than scarves worked in fingering weight yarn or dk yarn.
A lot of the time is takes to crochet a scarf will depend on the difficulty of the stitch pattern. Something more complicated takes longer.

Adjustments
To adjust the width of your scarf use a stitch multiple of 4 and then add 1 more for your foundation chain. Or you can add/subtract from my starting chain in 4s.
To change your scarf length, just keep following the repeat row for as long as you like. 60” – 76” long works for most scarf lengths.
