Sharing is caring!

The Trento is a simple knit scarf full of texture. This easy knitting pattern features basic stitches in a four row repeat. The Trento Scarf makes a great gift, especially when paired with the matching knit hat.

This scarf can be knit with just one skein of yarn! The textured stitch is made with knit stitches and purl stitches.

The Trento makes a great scarf for men or women. You can easily adjust the scarf to widen and lengthen it for an ultra cozy scarf too.

The Yarn

The yarn for this scarf is a #4 medium worsted weight yarn. You can substitute any yarn in the same weight category.

The yarn I use for the sample is Lion Brand’s Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling yarn. It comes in a 185 yd ball. There are plenty of different colors to choose from to fit your needs.

The Matching Hat

The Trento has a matching hat pattern. The bottom up hat features the same textured stitch. Plus it comes in sizes for toddlers, children, teen and adults.

If you make both the hat and scarf it’s a wonderful gift for anyone on your list!

I have a tutorial on how to knit the double moss stitch in the round and flat.

The scarf size is 6” wide x 57.5” long.

How to Adjust this Scarf

To knit a wider or narrower scarf you need a stitch multiple of 4, plus 2 more. You can add or subtract 4 to my cast on number.

To lengthen your scarf simply repeat more rows of the 4 row repeat. Remember to stop after a row 4 repeat. Any adjustments will change the amount of yarn needed, so plan accordingly.
