Materials
- #3 dk/lightweight yarn; pictured in Paintbox Yarn Cotton Dk* (100% cotton, 137yd/125m, 1.7oz/50g); color: blood orange (12yd/11m each), racing green (16yd/15m each). You can easily use #4 medium worsted weight yarn to make this coaster, see Adjustments for more details.
- 4mm US Size G-4 crochet hook*
- yarn needle
- measuring tape
- scissors
- stitch marker
Notes
- The coaster pattern is in the round.
- Don’t join, just add a stitch marker to the first stitch and move it up every round to keep track of your first stitch and rounds.

Adjustments
To crochet a smaller or larger coaster, just change the number of rounds. If you would like to add a round of increases then continue in the same pattern of moving the increase one more stitch.
If you would like to crochet this coaster in #4 medium worsted weight yarn then follow the pattern as written and stop increasing when you circle measures 4”/10cm across, then follow Rnd 11.

Instructions
- Rnd 1. Crochet 6 sc into the mc, pull tail to close mc, don’t join continue to next rnd. (6 sts)
- Rnd 2. Place 2 sc and in each st around, place st marker in first st of round and move it up each round. (12 sts)
- Rnd 3. *{Sc in the next st, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (18 sts)
- Rnd 4. *{Sc in each of the next 2 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (24 sts)
- Rnd 5. *{Sc in each of the next 3 stitches, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (30 sts)
- Rnd 6. *{Sc in each of the next 4 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (36 sts)
- Rnd 7. *{Sc in each of the next 5 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (42 sts)
- Rnd 8. *{Sc in each of the next 6 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (48 sts)
- Rnd 9. *{Sc in each of the next 7 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (54 sts)
- Rnd 10.*{Sc in each of the next 8 sts, 2 sc in the next} rep from * around. (60 sts)
- Rnd 11. Sc in each st around. Finish off with an inv join.
- Vine + Stem
Worked in rows. - Vine
Join green with sl st to top of coaster. - Ch 10, dc in 2nd ch from your hook, place 2 more dc in that same ch, place 3 dc in each ch, sl st to top of coaster. Continue to stem.
- Stem
Continue in top of coaster, next to vine. - Row 1. Ch 1, sc in same st and next 3 sts, turn. (4 sts)
- Rows 2-4. Rep last row.
- Cut yarn and weave in ends.
