Crochet dishcloths make excellent gifts. And adding that little wrapper is a nice touch!
Often times the recipients of my gifts are not 100% sure what they are receiving at first. So it never hurts to spell it out for them.
You can easily use this pattern as a washcloth too. Combines these with a crochet loofah and you’ll have a nice bath gift set to give.

What kind of yarn do I need for crochet dishcloths?
I would highly recommend 100% cotton yarn for this crochet dishcloth pattern. I crocheted this one with yarn I had in my stash.
The dishcloth in the picture are in Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton yarn in the color glowing. This is a #4 medium worsted weight yarn.
Other yarns suitable for crochet dishcloths would be Red Heart Smoothie Scrubby which I used in my Bria Crochet Washcloth Pattern.
I held two strands of the same yarn together for the Heart Pocket Face Scrubby Pattern.
Or for a good scrubbing power Red Heart Scrubby Yarn is highly textured. You can shop both these yarns here: Shop Red Heart Products.
Hobby Lobby’s I Love This Cotton is a super soft cotton yarn. It would makes a great summer crochet yarn.
I’ve used it for my toddler sun hat crochet pattern, and in several crochet tote bags, but most recently in Annie’s crochet tote bag pattern.
Dishcloths make great gifts
Crocheters love gifting and donating. And summer time is no exception-especially if you have lots of loved ones with summer birthdays!
Crocheting dishcloths, washcloths, and face scrubbies are excellent ways to crochet in the summer and create gifts to give or donate.
Crochet a set in a friend’s favorite color. Pair the dishcloth with a natural, handmade dish soap like this one from HeartJCreations on Etsy, and you’ll have a personalized gift.

The Stitch
This square crochet dishcloth pattern features the trinity stitch.
The trinity stitch is mostly a sc3tog, or single crochet three together. The thing to remember about this stitch is to always start your next stitch in the same stitch as the last leg of the stitch before.
If that sound totally confusing I understand! I include a photo tutorial and video for how to crochet the stitch.
Another thing I love about this crochet pattern is the double sided texture. Since it is worked flat in a square it’s the same on both sides.
The Suzette Stitch is another great lightly textured crochet stitch. Breann at Hooked on Homemade Happiness has a great tutorial on this stitch.
