  • 12 yd / 11 m of #4 medium worsted weight yarn divided in red and white

Tools

  • 3.5 mm US Size E hook
  • yarn needle
  • measuring tape
  • scissors

hdc - half double crochet
rep - repeat
sc - single crochet 
sc2tog - single crochet two together
sk - skip the indicated stitch
sl st - slip stitch
st(s) - stitch (es)

Ch 1 does not count as a stitch unless noted in the pattern.

In white
Ch 4
Row 1. Hdc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each ch across, turn. (3 sts)
Row 2. Ch 1, hdc in same st and in each st across, turn. (3 sts)
Change to Red
Rows 3 - 4. Rep Row 2.
Change to White
Rows 5 - 6. Rep Row 2.
Change to Red
Rows 7 - 8. Rep Row 2.
Change to White
Row 9. Ch 1, hdc in the same st, sc in the next st, sl st in the last st, turn. (3 sts)
Row 10. Ch 1 (here counts as the first st), sc in the next st, hdc in the last st, turn. (3 sts)
Change to Red
Row 11. Ch 1, hdc in the same st, sc2tog, turn. (2 sts)
Row 12. Ch 1, (here counts as the first st), hdc and sc in the last st, turn. (3 sts)
Change to White
Row 13. Ch 1, hdc in same st, hdc in next st, sc in the last st, turn. (3 sts)
Row 14. Rep Row 10.
Change to Red
Row 15. Rep Row 9.
Row 16. Rep Row 10.
Change to White
Row 17. Rep Row 9.
Row 18. Rep Row 2.
Change to Red
Rows 19 -20. Rep Row 2.
Cut yarn and weave in ends.
Block into shape.

Bow tie

Fsc 42, or ch 43 and sc in the 2nd ch from your hook and in each ch across. = 11” long
Leave a long tail for sewing.
Tie into bow.
Weave long tail up through one end to center of bow. Sew on to candy cane with tail and yarn needle.
