This beginner friendly crochet beach tote bag is worked bottom up. It’s worked in the round. The bottom of the bag is solid.
All the stitches for this patterns are basic crochet stitches. Plus each section has an easy repeat row.

The crochet tote in the pictures uses 100% cotton yarn. Although, acrylic yarn is suitable as well.

The Coastal Sun Tote makes for a fabulous scrappy project. With different stitches in repeated sections it’s easy to change colors.
I love the combination of teal and yellow in this one, with a little bit of the print thrown in at the transitions. This bag pattern may be a great stash buster if you have odds and ends of cotton yarn.

Notes
- Ch 1 does not count as a stitch. I prefer to ch 1 when working hdc in the round to keep my joins tight.
- Bag is worked in continuous rounds, place stitch marker in the first st of each round.

This bright and colorful crochet tote bag pattern is great for beach days and even shopping trips.
Materials

Instructions
- In Color A.
Begin with a mc.
Rnd 1. 6 sc into mc, don’t join, mark first st of each round. (6 sts) - Rnd 2. 2 sc in each st around. (12 sts)
- Rnd 3. 2 sc in first st, sc in next st, *{2 sc in next st, sc in next st} rep from * around. (18 sts)
- Rnd 4. 2 sc in first st, sc in next 2 sts, *{2 sc in next st, sc in next 2 sts} rep from * around. (24 sts)
- Rnd 5. 2 sc in first st, sc in next 3 sts, *{2 sc in next st, sc in next 3 sts} rep from * around. (30 sts)
- Rnd 6. 2 sc in first st, sc in next 4 sts, *{2 sc in next st, sc in next 4 sts} rep from * around. (36 sts)
- Rnd 7. 2 sc in first st, sc in next 5 sts, *{2 sc in next st, sc in next 5 sts} rep from * around. (42 sts)

- Rnds 15 - 18. Sc in each st around.
- Rnd 19. *{Ch 2, sk next st, sc in next st} rep from * around, ch 2, sk last 2 sc. (125 sts) Mark first ch 2 sp as first st.
- Rnd 20. Place 1 sc in next ch 2 sp, *{ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next ch 2 sp} rep from * around. Mark first sc as first st.
- Rnd 21. Ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next ch 2 sp, *{ch 2, sk next sc, sc in next ch 2 sp} rep from * around. Mark first ch 2 sp as first st.
- Rnds 22 - 25. Rep Rnd 21 for a total of 7 mesh rnds.
From here the mesh and single crochet sections alternate. Continue below for details. - Change to Color B.
Rnd 26. *{Place 1 sc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next sc} rep from * around. (83 sts) - Rnds 27 - 30. Sc in each st around. Rep for a total of 5 rnds.
- Change to Color C.
Rnd 31. *{Ch 2, sk next st, sc in next st} rep from * around. - Rnds 32 - 37. Rep Rnd 21 for a total of 7 mesh rnds.
- Change to Color B.
Rnd 38. Rep Rnd 26. - Rnd 39 - 42. Rep Rnds 27 - 30
- Change to Color A.
Rnd 43. Rep Rnd 31. - Rnds 44 - 49. Rep Rnd 21 for a total of 7 mesh rnds.
- Change to Color B.
Rnd 50. *{Place 1 sc in next ch 2 sp, sc in next sc} rep from * around. - Change to Color C.
Rnd 51. Sc in each st around. Don’t cut yarn.
Strap
- Worked in rows.
Row 1. Sc in next 5 sts, turn. (5 sts) - Row 2. Ch 1, sc in same st and in next 4 sts, turn.
- Rows 3 - 77. Rep last row, or until desired length is reached. 26” as written.
- Sl st strap end to opposite edge of bag.
- Cut yarn. Weave in ends.
