Here I am at Stitch Up Chicago using my Mariana bag while mingling with makers!

The shawl I’m wearing is the Lilla Shawl a lovely worsted weight shawl. In my Mariana bag is one ball of DK merino yarn from Asylum Fibers. It’s working up beautifully in the Sanctuary Revisited Shawl.
Materials
- 152 yds Lion Brand 24/7 cotton yarn* a #4 medium worsted weight yarn (100% Mercerized Cotton, 185 yd (170 m) per 100 g skein) in shades: Taupe (A) – 1 skein (87 yd), Ecru (B) – 1 skein (42 yd), Jade (C) – 1 skein (23 yd).
- 4.5 mm US size 7/G+ crochet hook,* or size needed to meet gauge.
- Yarn needle, measuring tape, scissors, stitch marker(s).
Notes
- Please read through all notes and pattern before you begin.
- Please check gauge first.
- This is worked in continuous rounds. Mark the first stitch with a stitch marker and move it up to the first stitch for every round.
- Stitch multiple is 9.
- I choose to carry the yarn (less ends to weave in), but if you prefer you can use small bobbins of color for each diamond allowing for less carrying of the yarn around.
Gauge
9 sts x 10 rnds (after blocking) to 2” (5 cm) measured in sc.
Sizing
11.5” tall total x 8” wide (29 x 20.5 cm). Handle is 4” (10 cm) tall and pouch is 7.5” (19 cm) tall.

sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st(s) – stitch(es)
Construction
This project bag is worked bottom up in continuous rounds. The handle is worked in rows.
Adjustments
The diamond pattern is worked over 9 stitches so if making changes you will need a stitch multiple of 9. You can continue the increases of the base to make a larger bag, or do less for a smaller. Likewise you can make a shorter or taller bag with less or more repeat rounds.
