Gauge

4”/10cm x 4”/10cm = 9 blo hdc x 6 rows of blog hdc, unstretched

Construction

Gloves are worked flat in rows and then seamed together. When seaming you will leave an opening for the thumbhole.

Fit

For best fit measure hand around knuckles. Sizing below is actual hand measurement by age. Finished gloves have a negative ease of .5” / 1.25cm – 1” / 2.5cm, where the finished glove is smaller than the hand measurement, and stretch to fit.

See Sizing for more.

Sizing

Age – Hand circumference

2-4 yr = 5” / 13cm

4-6 yr = 6” / 15cm

6-8 yr = 6.5” / 16.5cm

Teen/Sm Women’s = 7” / 18cm

Women’s Med = 7.5” / 19cm

Women’s Lg/Men’s Sm = 8” / 20.5cm

Men’s Med = 8.5” / 21.5cm

Men’s Lg 9” / 23.5cm

Adjustments

Since these are worked flat, think of them as sideways.

To adjust the length you can add or subtract any number of stitches. Remember the first two chains are skipped and do not count.

To adjust the width you can add or subtract the number of rows. You want it to fit around the widest part of the hand, usually the knuckles. This is a stretchy stitch so you want it to fit snugly, because it will stretch.
