How to Crochet a Super Scarf Free Crochet Pattern | Tuono Scarf

The Tuono is a cozy super scarf pattern. It works up super quick, and this squishy printed yarn looks fabulous in simple, beginner stitches.

This super scarf is perfect for beginners or for those of us who love a fast project-hello jumbo yarn! Plus this one is a no brainer, so watch all your favs on Netflix or listen to your audiobook, you’ll still be able to crochet away.

This Color Cloud yarn from Lion Brand was really fun to work with and it really does feel as soft as a cloud (I imagine). I love their color ways, as it has enough variation to add interest without weaving in extra ends.

Easy, beginner stitches shine in this chunky print yarn.

One of my favorite things about crochet scarves is that they add another layer of warmth. And it’s one that’s easier to remove than a second sweater.

To crochet a super scarf you need “super” yarn. #6 super bulky yarn or #7 jumbo yarn and a large crochet hook. A 10mm hook for the super bulky yarn and a 15mm hook for the jumbo yarn.

This pattern features #7 jumbo yarn, but you could easily substitute #6 yarn and 10mm hook. You’ll want to start with a larger chain, so you get a nice wide 8″ for your scarf too.

  • 15 mm (P/Q) hook
  • Yarn needle
  • Measuring tape
  • Scissors

Instructions

    1. Ch 15, hdc in the 3rd ch (skipped chains do not count as a stitch here) continue to hdc in each ch across, turn. (13 sts) If you're using a #6 yarn and 10mm hook, you will chain more 20-25. Just be sure it's large enough to be the width you would like, and note that the first 2 chains will be skipped.
    2. Ch 2 (doesn’t count as a stitch here and throughout), in blo hdc in. each st across, turn. (13 sts)
    3. Rep row 2 for 58 rows total or 68”/173m in length.
    4. To crochet a longer (or shorter scarf) simply crochet more (or less) rows of the one row repeat.
    5. Your scarf is complete, FO as in step 8. Or below I include a couple finishing options.
    6. Option 1: To seam this crochet scarf into a long infinity cowl, match up the short ends.
    7. You can either slip stitch them together or use your yarn needle to sew them together with a mattress stitch or whip stitch.
    8. Finish off by cutting yarn and pulling gently through the last stitch.
    9. Then weave in your ends with your large eye yarn needle.
    10. Option 2: You can add fringe to bottom edges of your scarf. I have tutorial on how to add fringe here.
    11. Once your scarf is fringed just trim and eccola!
