Crochet Women’s Hat Pattern
This crochet beanie is textured and cozy. It’s solid enough to be a comfy chemo cap.
If you’re looking for a top down beanie that is a little more interesting than just regular stitches, you may enjoy this hat.
I started with a traditional puff stitch, but felt it was a bit too much for what I had in mind. So I modified it to a smaller version.

It gave the stitches just the right amount of textured interest to be repeated through the hat.
This crochet textured hat is designed to fit teen/sm adults. I love this top down crochet beanie so I created more sizes. You can find the updated Pebbled Beanie crochet pattern which includes sizes 0-3 mos up to Adult.

Awesome pattern! I’ve never used the mini puff stitch before. The texture is very interesting! I like it!
Thanks! I love how it turned out.
This looks great, can’t wait to try it out!
Thank you! I hope you enjoy it!
I am having troubles. Rows 6-7 says to repeat the previous 2 rows, but the stitch count doesn’t come out even. And since there are no stitch totals for the rows, I don’t know what the number should be. I have adapted rows 6-7
Rounds 6-*{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 3 } repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1.(35)
Rounds 7-*{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 4 } repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1.( 42)
Is this what I should be? It feels small. I might end up going another increase row. Help, please
Hi Laurie,
Thanks for reaching out. I would definitely add another increase if it seems small. This is an older pattern of mine and I have since rewritten it to fit larger and in all the sizes here: https://christacodesign.com/2018/02/26/pebbled-crochet-beanie-pattern/
But I do need to update this older post, so thank you. I’m copying and pasting the changes here and I will update the post as well. I corrected the repeat error for 6 & 7 and I added the stitch counts. I added another rnd of increase for you too. I will update the entire post to reflect the corrections in the new Pebbled Beanie Pattern I linked. I hope this helps!
Round 4: *{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 4} repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1. (24 sts)
Round 5: *{2 mp in the first, mp 5} repeat from * around, join with ss to first, ch 1. (28 sts)
Round 6: *{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 6} repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1. (32 sts)
Round 7: *{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 7} repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1. (36 sts)
Round 8: *{2 mp in the first stitch, mp 8} repeat from *around, join with ss to first, ch 1. (40 sts)
Rounds 9-22: mp in each stitch around, join with ss to first.
Finish off (cut yarn and weave in ends).
Please let me know if you have any other questions! I’m happy to help and thanks again!

Wow! Thank you! I thought I was going crazy because I can’t read patterns well and I was drawing little diagrams trying to figure things out 😛
Oh no!! Sorry, you were totally right! I hope it works out smoothly now!
