Brindisi Bobble Square Crochet Pattern
The Brindisi Bobble Square crochet pattern features stripes and bobbles. This eye catching design is part of the Friendship Blanket Crochet Along.
The square is worked in alternating rows of single crochet and bobble stitch. Creating contrasting stripes of color adds to the pop of the bobble stitch. However, a solid square is just as lovely and even easier.
This crochet blanket square includes photos and linked video tutorials for stitch help. There is also a full row by row video tutorial available.

Helen from Sunflower Cottage Crochet orchestrated this beautiful blanket crochet along. I’ve joined her and 26 other crochet designers in creating unique and textured squares.
Each crochet square is designed to be 9″ x 9.” So you’ll want to choose 35 squares for about a 45″ x 60″ blanket.
The Brindisi Square is easy to adjust, if you’re having trouble getting a 9″ x 9″ square. You can add a double crochet border for a larger square or leave the border off.
While meeting gauge is the best way to get an accurately sized square, you can also adjust the stitch count. I include specifics under fit/size.
Yarn
For the contrasting affect of the bobbles to really stand out, I chose a dark teal blue yarn against beige. This square also looks great in a solid color, if you want to make it even easier to crochet.
You can use any #4 medium worsted weight yarn. I use Red Heart Super Saver* in tan and I Love This Yarn* in Antique Teal, both of which I had in my stash.
Stitches in this Square
The Brindisi Square uses the double crochet and bobble stitch. There are photos for the rows in the pattern below.
Plus you can find the tutorial, including video for the bobble stitch here. If you also need a double crochet tutorial I have one for that stitch too.
The rows of double crochets and bobbles are alternated with rows of single crochets. The border is also single crochet.
To start this square I use the foundation single crochet. It is not required though, and I include instructions for starting with a chain, if you prefer.

Helpful Tutorials
If you’re changing colors then these step by step tutorials will be helpful too. I use the Brindisi Square to show how to change colors through the row-from stitch to stitch. Changing colors at the end of row is a little different so I have another tutorial for that, also using the Brindisi Square.

Gauge
4”/10cm x 4”/10cm= 12 dc x 5 rows of dc
Gauge is important for getting a 9″ square. If you have trouble meeting gauge you can always add/subtract more border rounds.
Level
Intermediate
Construction
This square is crocheted flat in back and forth rows. You will turn after each row.
Fit/Adjustment
The stitch multiple for this square is 4, plus 3 for the foundation. To adjust you can add/subtract in 4s to my starting chain.
