Learn how to crochet the cluster stitch in single crochet. This easy crochet stitch creates a beautiful texture.

I am in love with how this Single Crochet Cluster Stitch worked up in my Child’s Winter Pom Hat. The texture combined with this gorgeous royal blue cotton yarn is delightful.

I wrote up a quick photo tutorial for the single crochet cluster stitch below. If you enjoy this cluster stitch you may also like to try the double crochet cluster stitch. I used this stitch in my popular Ottobre Shawlette pattern.

If you enjoy this stitch you may also like the Double Crochet Cluster stitch which is worked in a similar manner.

You’ll see the single crochet cluster is very similar to the single crochet three together, sc3tog.

There’s one important distinction though, the sc3tog is a decrease stitch. So you’ll end up with 2 less stitches.

The single crochet cluster is a cluster stitch that does not decrease. Since they’re made the same way, we have to replace the stitches we’re taking out.

To do so we simply, chain 2 to replace those lost two stitches.

Materials:

  • Any yarn and matching crochet hook.
  • In the photo tutorial I’m using: (1) I Love This Cotton yarn in Royalty and my Happy Crochet Hook in Pink Lemonade 4mm US size G.
