Here my four year old is modeling the child size. This free crochet hat pattern is available in sizes to fit toddler through large adult.
I used my Clover Pom Pom maker to make that pom and I think it’s one of my best yet. Poms make me crazy but using the pom maker tool helps for sure!
So even if you don’t have a Pom Pom maker there are plenty of diy ways to do it!

For this long, floppy pom I used a piece of cardboard about 2″ wide to wrap my yarn around.

150-300 yds #4 med worsted weight yarn, in contrasting colors. I used Red Heart Super Saver in Hunter Green* (Color A) and White (Color B)
5mm hook US Size H-8 crochet hook*

- Hat is worked top down in the round.
- Ch 3 counts as a stitch, I highly recommend using a ch 3 alternative.
- Tail is 13.5” long.

- 150-300 yds #4 med worsted weight yarn, in contrasting colors. I use Red Heart Super Saver in Hunter Green (Color A) and White (Color B)

- 5mm hook
- Yarn needle
- Measuring tape

Instructions
- All Sizes
In Color A begin with a mc.
Rnd 1. Ch 3, 11 dc into mc, sl st to first st to join. (12 sts) - Rnd 2. Ch 3, dc in each st around, sl st to first st to join. (12 sts)
- Rnd 3. Rep Rnd 2. Change to Color B on last st.
Color B. - Rnds 4-6. Rep Rnd 2.
Color A. - Rnds 7-9. Rep Rnd 2.
