The Bianca Square is a beginner friendly blanket square knitting pattern that features a cozy garter stitch edge with a textured center. This 8″ square knits up quick and easy in worsted weight yarn.

With a simple 4 row repeat, this blanket square is a relaxing knit. It looks great in lighter yarn colors, as you can really see those stitches pop.

Materials

60 yd/55m of #4 medium worsted weight yarn; pictured in Premier Everyday Yarn Anti-Pilling (100% acrylic, 3.5 oz/100 g, 180 yds/165m) color: snow white (1).
4.5mm (US Size 7) needles
yarn needle
measuring tape
scissors
2 stitch markers (optional)

Notes

This blanket square is knit flat in back and forth rows.
You can use any cast on method you are comfortable with for this square.
For best result check gauge before beginning.

Finished Dimensions

Blanket square is 8″/20.5cm long x 8″/20.5cm wide, after blocking.

Adjustments

To adjust the width of your square, you can add or subtract 6 sts to my cast on. This is helpful if you have trouble meeting gauge.

For a custom size, you need a stitch multiple of 6, plus 2, plus your edges stitches. For example, for this square I cast on 30 stitches. 20 of these are for the center and 10 are for the edges, with those 10 being split into 5 and 5 on each edge.

To change the length, adjust the number of times you repeat the 4 row repeat.
