Learn how to crochet the v-stitch in this step by step photo tutorial. A versatile and easy stitch to work, I often find myself turning to this one. Crocheted with basic stitches, it’s a stitch for everyone.

I recently published a squishy scarf pattern using the v-stitch and at matching hat pattern. So I thought now would be a good time to do a little v-stitch tutorial.

V-Stitch Patterns

Veneto Hat-an all sizes chunky hat pattern.

Veneto Fringed Scarf-matches the chunky hat and you can leave the fringe off if you prefer.

Materials:

• Any weight yarn and appropriately sized hook.
• My favorite hooks are Clover Amour.
• For this tutorial I’m working with Lion Brand’s Thick and Quick Wool Ease in the color Fossil and hook size K.

Stitches Used:

double crochet (dc)-yarn over (yo) and insert your hook into the stitch to be worked, yo again and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops, yo and pull through 2 loops to complete the double crochet.

chain (ch)-yarn over and pull up a loop. See the photo & video tutorial.

V-Stitch Photo Tutorial:

The v-stitch is worked all in the same stitch.

Double crochet in the desired stitch.

Chain 1.

In the same stitch, double crochet.

Eccola! Now your v-stitch is complete.

I use this stitch in the hat pattern above. As you can see, the next row or round of v-stitches in placed inside the chain space between double crochet stitches. For my pattern I’ve separated the v-stitches with a ch 1 also.
