For this free crochet heart pattern we’ll start with a magic ring to start the first round. These easy crochet hearts are only two rounds of quick stitches!
This basic crochet heart pattern includes different height stitches to create the shape. Each of the stitches is listed below with a linked tutorial.
Yarn
Scrap yarn is great for this crochet heart pattern. You can make so many different colors which is great for using up leftover yarn.
And if you use cotton yarn these can be a simple face scrubby.

- #4 medium worsted weight yarn
- 5 mm crochet hook US size H – 8
- yarn needle
- scissors
- measuring tape

How to Crochet a Heart
An easy crochet heart in worsted weight yarn!
Materials
- #4 medium worsted weight yarn
Tools
- 5 mm hook size H – 8
- tapestry needle
- scissors
- measuring tape
Instructions
- Start with a mc, or you can ch 3 and sl st to first ch. Work into the circle.
- Rnd 1. Place 11 dc in the mc,
- Sl st to the top of the first dc.
- Rnd 2. Ch 3, place 2 tr in the first st,
- Place 2 tr in the next st,
- Place 2 dc in the next st,
- Place 2 hdc in the next st,
- Place 2 sc in the next st,
- Place 1 dc in the next st (this will be the tip of your heart),
- Place 2 sc in the next st,
- Place 2 hdc in the next st,
- Place 2 dc in the next st,
- Place 2 tr in the next st,
- Place 2 tr in the last st,
- Ch 3 and sl st to down to same st (this forms the indent at the top of the heart).
- Cut yarn. Leave a long tail and you can use the yarn end to sew it down to another piece.
- Weave in ends.
