Leave a long tail for sewing the strap to the front of your hat.

Lay your beanie flat with right side up.

Attach strap to the front of your beanie, just above round 23.

Either end of the strap should line up with the edge of your flattened hat.

Using a long piece of yarn (or the long tail you left) and yarn needle sew down the two short edges (that measure 1.75″).

Sew on a button at one end-mine is on the right side. I used a 1 3/4″ squared wooden button from Joann’s.

Eccola! You’ve embellished a basic beanie with a button and strap detail.
