For this free crochet heart pattern we’ll start with a magic ring to start the first round. These easy crochet hearts are only two rounds of quick stitches!

This basic crochet heart pattern includes different height stitches to create the shape. Each of the stitches is listed below with a linked tutorial.

An easy crochet heart in worsted weight yarn!

Materials

  • #4 medium worsted weight yarn

Tools

  • 5 mm hook size H – 8
  • tapestry needle
  • scissors
  • measuring tape

Instructions

  1. Start with a mc, or you can ch 3 and sl st to first ch. Work into the circle.Magic circle with one double crochet in it.
  2. Rnd 1. Place 11 dc in the mc,
  3. Sl st to the top of the first dc.
  4. Rnd 2. Ch 3, place 2 tr in the first st,Two treble crochet in first stitch.
  5. Place 2 tr in the next st,
  6. Place 2 dc in the next st,Two double crochet in next stitch.
  7. Place 2 hdc in the next st, Two half double crochets in next stitch.
  8. Place 2 sc in the next st,Two single crochets in next stitch.
  9. Place 1 dc in the next st (this will be the tip of your heart),Double crochet in tip of heart.
  10. Place 2 sc in the next st, Two single crochets after the tip.
  11. Place 2 hdc in the next st, Two half double crochets in next.
  12. Place 2 dc in the next st,Two double crochets in stitch.
  13. Place 2 tr in the next st, Two treble crochet in stitch.
  14. Place 2 tr in the last st,Two treble crochet in last stitch.
  15. Ch 3 and sl st to down to same st (this forms the indent at the top of the heart).Slip stitch chain three to same stitch.
  16. Cut yarn. Leave a long tail and you can use the yarn end to sew it down to another piece.
  17. Weave in ends.
