Free Crochet Book Bag Pattern | Library Tote Book Bag

Sharing is caring!

The Library Tote is a free crochet tote bag pattern that’s a book lover’s best friend. This rectangle bag is composed of a sturdy single crochet bottom with two wide handles for comfort.

Bring this crochet tote bag to the farmer’s market, the library or the yarn store. When we hit the library we never seem to have enough hands or bags for all the books.

I love this bag for these trips. It’s crocheted with cotton yarn, so it stretches, but it’s more supportive than a mesh bag.

I’ve been crocheting up these tote bags to gift to all the amazing teachers who have supported my kids this year. I knew a teacher would have tons of notebooks and papers to fill it with.

As much as I’d love to gift a handmade blanket to each and everyone of them, who has the time? Do you gift your crocheted items to teachers?

The single crochet bottom keeps books inside the bag!

Last year I made them summery cotton cowls like the Archwork Cowl or scarves like the Skinny Summer Scarfall one skein projects! These were so fun and easy.

But I like that the crochet bags can be so useful. You can crochet them in neutral colors and gift away!

  1. Hi Marsha,
Yes, that’s correct. One strap is connected in two places on one side of the bag. And the second strap is also connected in two places on the opposite side of the bag.
    I hope that helps!
