I use one of my favorite stitches, what I call the v-arch. It’s just a v-stitch with ch 3 instead of ch 1, but I love it.

I also use it in my summer poncho, or swim coverup The Merletto Poncho.

I was a little concerned that the skinny straps would dig into my shoulders too much. But with two straps to distribute the weight, it wasn’t a problem.

You can see in these pictures the straps can be worn over the shoulder. If you would like longer straps, it’s a simple matter of adding stitches.

One thing I love about the two strap design is it’s practical to use. Just let one shoulder strap hang on while you open it up.

We have just the perfect hook for hanging tote bags. I wanted a realistic picture of it full of fruit. And here it is, full and sturdy.

  1. Thanks! Definitely you could use dk 8ply. I don’t think you would even have to make any changes, it just might be lighter. You can work up a gauge swatch and compare. Since it’s made from the bottom up, you could just continue increasing til you have the size you want.
