Lunette Sun Hat Free Crochet Along, Part 4-Brim

Sharing is caring!

Welcome back for the final installment of the Lunette Sun Hat, below you’ll find the pattern for the brim portion of your hat. The brim is easy to customize and make larger or smaller. The larger it gets, the floppier it will be, but it will also add that much more sun coverage.

If you’re just finding this post, it’s the last part of a 4 post free crochet sun hat CAL. Scroll down for the links to the other posts to get started on this free cotton sun hat pattern. If you’d like everything in one place, the pdf is available on Etsy and Ravelry for a small cost.

The video tutorial for this sun hat is also below which includes finding the blo-back loop only, how to crochet the invisible join and changing colors, marking continuous rounds and rounds joined with a ss-slip stitch for color changes.

I had a fun time adding stripes to the toddler size hat, and a ribbon for my little one! I love how the different parts of the hat work so well together in different colors too. I found switching to joining rounds with a slip stitch and chaining 1 to start was a smoother way to change colors on the brim. Continuous rounds created a less clean change.

This hat from tester Heidi looks lovely in blue and white:

This bright cheery yellow hat from Swathi just makes me smile! Just a touch of contrasting color really makes it pop!
